The School of Fundamental Science and Engineering (FSE) is dedicated to the pursuit of science and engineering grounded in mathematics and fundamental engineering. With this philosophy at its core, the school was established in 2007 by uniting various departments and majors.
In 2019, the Graduate School of FSE introduced a new department in Material Science, which spans across specialized fields of existing departments. Additionally, in 2020, the newly revamped Department of Applied Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering was launched, adding a new chapter to the School of Fundamental Science and Engineering.
The School of Fundamental Science and Engineering has also reformed “minor programs,” allowing more students to pursue minors in a broad learning environment. We hope that students will not only focus on their own departments but also acquire interdisciplinary knowledge to aim for their future and dreams. Furthermore, in addition to the minor programs, we have introduced “English-based program” conducted entirely in English and expanded and enhanced study abroad programs.
The School of Fundamental Science and Engineering boasts world-class faculty and facilities, providing an exceptionally favorable environment for research and education. How you make use of this environment is up to you.
