International Programs

A global-standard curriculum available only from Waseda University, taught in English

Placing globalization as an issue of highest priority, Waseda University seeks to train students to become citizens who can immerse themselves into intercultural societies around the world to solve various problems that exist in those local areas, and contribute not only to those areas and Japan but also to the human society as a whole. To succeed in this endeavor, in 2018, School and Graduate School of Fundamental Science and Engineering, School and Graduate School of Creative Science and Engineering, and School and Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering started new international programs that allow students to earn degrees through programs conducted entirely in the English language, recruiting outstanding students from all over the world.

Admission for Undergraduate students

English-based Undergraduate Program in the School of Fundamental Science and Engineering (2 Majors)

◆ Major in Mathematical Sciences
The Major in Mathematical Sciences will provide a broad curriculum, ranging from fundamental to applied mathematics. The aim is to equip students with knowledge not only of mathematics but also its connections to scientific and engineering fields, and to provide students with the mathematical skills needed to make a contribution to society. The course places particular focus on three topics that are essential in modern society: nonlinear mathematics, computational mathematics and statistical mathematics. In order to transcend existing frameworks and forge new mathematical fields, we have developed a curriculum system with links to other minors, enabling students to study science and engineering in an interdisciplinary manner, exposing them to mathematical perspectives. Department of Mathematics and Department of Applied Mathematics are in charge of the Major in Mathematical Sciences.
